Rota Walk: A Christmas Tradition...

Every year one of the streets here in base housing hosts a huge Christmas light party.  On the appointed Saturday, the street is blocked off, elaborate displays are set up, and the entire Guam military community comes to check it out.  It was fantastic!  I can't believe what these people came up with, and how much work and money they spent putting it together.  I took a few pictures, which of course don't do it justice, since it was, you know, dark.
This is a B-52.  It flew across the street and made bombing runs of candy.  There were drop zones painted on the pavement.  All the little kids would scramble to grab the candy.  And then there was a C-130 up the street doing the same thing.  And a lit up F-22 flying through the coconut trees up a little farther.
The boy scouts made a gigantic swing set out of lashed together bamboo.
A lit up bike, I thought it was pretty cool...
Several of the homes had themes.  This house was showing A Christmas Story on the side of their house.  The dad was dressed in a deranged Easter bunny costume.  They were giving out brownies with a sign that said "Oh Fudge (Brownies)".  They had a crate marked "Fra-gi-le".
And a leg lamp.  It was pretty awesome.
 Here's the C-130...
Our friends who live on the street did a Hawaiian theme, with a kayak, tons of plastic flamingos, and a big sign that said "Mele Kalikimaka".  And this photo op.  This is K and her little sister.
 And K and Miss A.
 Miss A again...

This was the coolest, a whole photo booth set up.  I had a hard time keeping Miss R in her props...

 Lights everywhere.  It was amazing.
And my personal favorite, Festive Yoda, or, as B says, Catholic Cardinal Yoda.
